Letter to my Room PA

Dear 최에리나 teacher(room PA)
  Hi, I am Geena.
I wanted to thank you because you helped me and all of my roommates to have a good time. You were very nice to us, and you let us have fun. It was very nice to have you in our room often. When I first met you, I wasn't too eager to be close to you as the other kids were, and wasn't too sure about calling you 'mother' like the other kids did. And while other kids all jumped at you when they saw you, I always hung back. Even now, I am reluctant to do that. However, I do feel much familiar being with you, and getting to know you was a good part of being in this camp. If I'd been in another roomwith other kids and other PAs, it wouldn't have been as fun. I know that you let us have more fun than other PAs did, and came to our room more than the others did. And I want to thank you for making the time here so fun. I hope you are well and go to a good university! : ) Bye, and again, thank you!

Review on Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief

썸네일Review by Geena Lim
Genre : Fanatasy
by Rick Riordan

What's the basic story line?
Percy Jackson has ADHD and dyslexia, and it bothers him greatly. One day, his mother is taken away, and he goes to Camp Half-Blood, a camp for demigods. There he finds that his father is Poseidon, and that he is a suspected criminal. Lately, Zeus's greatest weapon, the lightning bolt, has disappeared. Zeus has never had a good relationship with his brother, Poseidon, so naturally, the son of his "enemy" is the number 1 suspect. Percy just has got to prove this wrong. He also needs to get his mother back. To do this he must get the lightning bolt by the summer solstice. So, he recieves a prophecy and goes on a questto retrieve the lightning bolt with his best friend, Grover the satyr, and the daughter of Athena, Annabeth Chase, who has longed to come out into the mortal world, where it is dangerous for demigods. He goes all over the U.S, to get to the Underworld, where they can find the number 2 suspect, Hades. However, it turns out that the thief is not Hades, but Ares, the god of war, and that it is Luke, a fellow camper in Camp Half-Blood and the son of Hermes, who gave him the idea for it. Luke had been angered by the gods, because they didn't seem to care for their children at all. Percy doesn't manage to defeat Luke in their fight, but he wins Ares, and gets back the lightning bolt as well as his mother.

Are the characters believable?
The characters cannot exactly be described as either believable or unbelievable. Because the story is based on a myth, the characters are obviously not the most believable ones. However, their personalities seem to be quite believable. The main character, Percy Jackson, is a loyal, rather humorous kid who cannot stay still. His friend Grover Underwood the satyr, is a more nervous "kid", who is quite generous and forgiving. Annabeth Chase is a lot like a regular teenage girl that you can find in lots of places. She is quite mature, smart, athletic, and she thinks boys are ridiculous. Luke is a boy who wants attention, and wishes that his father would care for him more than he does now. The gods have different personalities, some grumpy, some easy-going, some full of hatred. Other than the fact that msot of the characters are rather mythical, they are quite realistic.

On a scale of 1 to 10(10 being best), how would you rate this book?
I would give this book a 9 or 10. It could be because of my love for mythology, but I really enjoyed reading this book. Also, I think that many people could enjoy it. The story flows along naturally. It can also be seen in many ways. It is a mix of adventure, myth and fun, and it is so interesting. It makes you want to know what will happen next.

The First Time I Went to the U.S

Many people have been to other countries for a trip. Many children have been to other countries for learning. When I was in 2nd grade, I moved to the U.S with my family because my father had decided to take a trip to the U.S.
When I got off the plane in New York, I remember seeing the bright sunlight through the windows. I boarded another plane that went to Boston, where I met my mother's friend and her family. They drove us to the house that we were staying in until we found a house to live in. The owners of the house had a brown cat, which I really liked. Near the house, there was a nice park. The whole time that we were living in that house, my parents looked for a house to live in. They took me to about 3 or 4 houses before choosing one to live in. Sooner than I thought, they found a house suitable for us.
The house we moved into was a part of an apartment. This apartment had a row of houses in the front, and the actual apartment building in the back. We moved into one of the houses in the front. It was 2 floors with a carpeted floor. The entrance separated the staircase from the living room and kitchen, which were connected. On the 2nd floor, there were the bedrooms and bathrooms. The backdoor led to the garage. I had a really good time while I was living in that house, and I met many other Korean kids that I became close friends with.
I went to a school called Peirce Elementary school. I attended all of 3rd grade and half of 4th grade. All of my Korean friends went to this school. I had many other good friends, some of whom I still contact. I had the same teacher for the whole time I went to that school. She was very kind and nice to me. I remember being late on the first day of 3rd grade because the bus came late. However, I do not remember being punished. During the first few days, I became friends with two American girls. They came to me first and asked me if I wanted to play with them. I thought this was really nice of them. Over time, I made more friend, and I came to enjoy school. It was very fun to live in a different country.

I had gone to many other countries before this experience, and I had always liked it, but this trip to the U.S was the first time that I had ever lived in a foreign country. It has made me feel that maybe living in a foreign country isn't that bad at all. I think it may have given me more confidence to try things, like coming to GLPS. I wish that I could go to and learn new things .

Descriptive Essay

Where is your favorite place to be? Mine is with my family. Often I think, I really hate my family, but I never really do hate them. Now I will tell specifically about my parents and my sibling.
My parents are very nice. First I will explain about my father. My father is a lawyer, but he is not the lawyer that everyone imagines. He doesn't help during a trial, but he works for a company that helps another company. He rarely scolds me or my sister, and he doesn't care about my grades. He is very nice and cares for me and my sister very much. He also calms down most of the arguments in the house. That is why any time I get a bad grade, I wait for him. My mother is very different from my father, but she is nice in her own way. She thinks that grades are important, and she scolds me much more than my father does. I think that she is rather scary when she gets angry  or tired. However, during the day when she isn't too tired, she is very nice to me. Sometimes I feel that she is the only one that would be able to understand me. Although my father is less scary, I think I  have always liked them both fairly.
My 6 year old sister is like a big, heavy burden that I have to carry. I have always felt that she was very annoying, but not many people agree with me. I think she is very annoying because she tries to do everything in her way. Not only does she seem annoying, she seems to be too proud of herself. She seems to think that she is the best in the world. However, I cannot help but agree with the fact that she does look cute and is cute at time.  Of course, these are just my thougths, so it isn't necessarily true. It is just the way I see her because she is with me all the time. She is a very cute little sister. It's probably just a part of growing up.
Although sometimes  there seems to be a lot of problems in my family, I still love my family and care for them. It is not possible to feel otherwise. Before, I had never left my home for a long period of time so I have never really felt glad to because I was part of my family, and I never thought that my family was one of the most important things in my life. Sometimes I hated my family, and sometimes I didn't. I'm kind of glad that I came to GLPS. I think I have learned a valuable lesson - that my family is one of the most important things in the world, and that I should be thankful for them.

An Ode to My Sister

My sister, my sister, her name was Yoonji
And she made me so very very angry
Everybody said she was cute
Why do they care about her looks?

To me she was just an annoying existance
But everybody would ignore her annoying presence

"Do you want to get a good scolding?"
I ask and try to be scary
"No" she would say
and run away

But I guess she can be cute
just as long as she stays mute
I wish they wouldn't judge by how she appears
It just feels too unfair
